Our Teaching and Learning Philosophy

At Yarra Glen Pre School, we are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive and supportive environment for all children and families. We value each child as an individual and support them to feel safe and secure with a strong sense of belonging. We understand the vital contribution of play to early childhood development and the importance of child centred learning. We believe children learn through hands-on experiences, allowing them to wonder, investigate and build on their own knowledge whilst being challenged by a supportive and intentional learning program. We respect the uniqueness of our families, acknowledging them as their child’s first teacher and value open communication. We believe that the best outcomes for children’s learning and development take place where there is a strong partnership with educators, families and the local community.

At Yarra Glen Pre School, we believe that children thrive on routine and structure, yet we are committed to fostering self-help skills and independence in preparation for their next stage of learning. We encourage children to build meaningful relationships with their educators and peers, supporting the ability to problem solve, develop social skills and promote resilience. Our unique and natural environment fosters a dynamic learning space that sparks curiosity and provides opportunity for children to investigate, inquire and engage in interest-based learning. Through a play-based learning program, children experience spontaneous, enjoyable and meaningful play. We intend to create learners for life.
